Effective date: August 19, 2026.

This Privacy Policy explains what information WaterTreatGuide collects when you visit watertreatguide.com, who processes it, how it is used, and the choices you have. It covers this website only, not the third-party sites we link to.

The short version

  • You can read the entire site without giving us anything. There are no accounts, no logins and no newsletter.
  • Analytics and advertising cookies are only set after you consent. Until then, our tags run in a restricted mode that stores nothing on your device.
  • We don’t sell your data for money, and we honour the Global Privacy Control browser signal.
  • You can change or withdraw consent at any time through the Cookie Settings link in the footer.

Who we are

This website is owned and operated by NET STUDIO LLC, 1501 South Greeley Hwy, Ste C #1386, Cheyenne, WY 82007, United States. NET STUDIO LLC is the controller of the personal data described here. The site itself is hosted in France, by o2switch SAS — see the Legal Notice for full details.

What we collect

  • Usage data — pages viewed, time on page, referring site, browser and device type, and approximate location at city level. Collected through analytics, and only with your consent.
  • Technical and security data — IP address, user agent and request time, written to server logs by our host and to our login-protection tool. This happens for every visitor: it is what keeps the site online and defends the administration area against brute-force attempts.
  • Consent data — when you answer the cookie banner, we record the choice you made, the version of the banner you saw and the time, so that we can demonstrate consent was given. This is stored on your device and, for proof-of-consent purposes, on our server.
  • Contact data — your email address and whatever you choose to write, if you contact us. Nothing more: there is no contact form on this site collecting extra fields.

We do not ask you to create an account, we do not run comments, and we do not knowingly collect special categories of personal data such as health, biometric or political information.

Cookies and consent

We use cookies and similar technologies. Strictly necessary ones — including the cookie that remembers your consent choice — are set without consent because the site cannot work correctly without them. Everything else (analytics, advertising) is set only after you agree, wherever the law requires it, which on this site means the EU/EEA, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada and the US states with an applicable privacy law.

Our tags use Google Consent Mode v2. Before you answer the banner, the four consent signals — analytics storage, advertising storage, ad user data and ad personalisation — are all set to denied, so the tags load but write nothing. They only begin storing anything once you accept.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any moment through the Cookie Settings link in the footer of every page. The complete, automatically maintained inventory of cookies — name, purpose, provider and lifetime — is in our Cookie Policy.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, connected through Google Site Kit, to understand which guides get read and where readers arrive from. We look at aggregate reports; we do not attempt to identify individual visitors, and raw IP addresses are not made available to us. Analytics data is retained for the period configured in our Google Analytics property — Google’s default is 14 months.

Advertising

This site is funded by display advertising, served by Google AdSense and, potentially, other advertising partners. These partners may use cookies, device identifiers and similar technologies to select and measure ads, including ads based on your previous visits to this and other sites.

Where consent is required, personalised advertising is only enabled after you opt in. If you decline, you may still see advertising, but it will be non-personalised — selected from the page content and coarse location rather than from a profile.

You can also control advertising outside this site:

Who else processes your data

We keep the list of processors deliberately short:

  • o2switch SAS (France) — web hosting and server logs.
  • Google LLC / Google Ireland Ltd — analytics and advertising, subject to your consent.
  • Our email provider — delivery of the messages you send us and our replies.

We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim. We do not sell personal information for money. Note that under California and several other US state laws, letting advertising partners use identifiers for cross-context behavioural advertising counts as “sharing” or a “sale” even without payment — you can opt out at any time through the Cookie Settings link, or by sending a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser, which this site detects and honours automatically.

International transfers

The publisher is established in the United States and the site is hosted in the European Union. Where personal data of EU/EEA, UK or Swiss visitors is transferred to the United States — in practice, to Google for analytics and advertising — that transfer relies on the safeguards those providers put in place, including the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Legal bases (EU/EEA, UK and Switzerland)

Where the GDPR or its UK and Swiss equivalents apply, we rely on: consent for analytics and advertising cookies and for the processing that follows from them; legitimate interest for keeping the site secure and available and for reading aggregate statistics; and steps taken at your request when we answer a message you send us. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of what came before.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to receive a copy in a portable format, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale or sharing. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of them.

The quickest route for most requests is the Cookie Settings link, which lets you change consent immediately. For anything else, use the form below or write to us; we answer within the statutory deadline, and within 30 days at the latest.

×

If you are in the EU/EEA, the UK or Switzerland and you believe we have not handled your data properly, you also have the right to complain to your national data protection supervisory authority.

How long we keep things

  • Messages you send us — as long as needed to deal with the exchange, then deleted.
  • Server and security logs — a short rolling window, typically a few weeks.
  • Consent records — kept as proof of consent for as long as the law requires us to be able to demonstrate it.
  • Analytics — per the retention period set in Google Analytics.

Children

This site is aimed at homeowners. It is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when the site changes — for instance when a new advertising partner or measurement tool is introduced. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes are re-presented through the consent banner.
